One Review for This Product
Cuisinart CI670-30CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 7-Quart Round Covered Casserole, Cardinal Red (Kitchen) I purchased this for my mother for Christmas. She used it for the first time last week. When she went to use it, we realized the enamel was chipped. Either it chipped at the factory, en route or just with one use. Regardless of which scenario is correct, I'm very disappointed such an expensive piece of cookware was so easily damaged. I have my own cast iron enameled Dutch oven and have had it for several years. Many pots of chile later, it is not damaged...so that is why I am disappointed with this Cuisinart piece. I intend to return it and "eat" the return shipping. Sorry to disappoint.

Cuisinart CI650-25CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 5-Quart Round Covered Casserole, Cardinal Red (Kitchen) I bought this pot retail for $49.99 and I am very happy and satisfied with my purchase. Even the Amazon price is worth every penny! I wanted to get Le Creuset cast iron pot but they were too expensive and just happened to go into a local Maxx store and saw this pot, I said to myself it's a fraction of the cost of it's expensive cousin and it looks just as durable and as heavy as the expensive ones so I bought it, Cusinart is a good and reliable brand so I gave it a try. I figured if I changed my mind, I can just return it.

I used it for the first time today and I was so impressed and happy with my purchase! If you are on the fence with this pot, don't be. Go ahead and buy it, use it and you won't be disappointed.

  2. I bought one of these pans recently (retail) for about $70. The first thing I cooked in it was a nice lean pork loin roast. There's just something about cooking in cast iron - everything comes out juicy and delicious. Also this Cuisinart pot has such a nice finish, it cleaned up SO easily, I barely had to wipe it! I did put a skim of veg oil in the bottom before I added the roast. Anyway, I won't be spending the $$ for Le Creuset enamel cookware any more.

  3. Cuisinart CI670-30CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 7-Quart Round Covered Casserole, Cardinal Red (Kitchen) If you are looking for affordable enameled cast iron this is it. I've used Le Creuset many times and it is great cookware...but this is just as good for much less money. I bought this piece - the 7qt oval Dutch Oven in Cherry Red for $89.90 on Amamzon..(the corresponding Le Creuset piece goes for $275.00) and is is beautifully made...not like some of the cheaper knock-offs. Its VERY heavy and the enamel is applied perfectly. Will buy additional pieces (5qt Dutch Oven, grill pan etc.) now that I know Cuisinart makes their Enameled Cast Iron so well.

  4. Cuisinart CI630-20CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 3-Quart Round Covered Casserole, Cardinal Red (Kitchen) This was purchased for me to encourage my growing love for cooking. I bought a Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 5-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Red last year. Sadly this Cuisinart does not come close to the same quality of manufacture.

After a few weeks the lid of the Cuisinart pot started to rust and became immediately unusable! Now into only the 2nd month of regular use the bottom can be seen to be noticeably wearing away ): Please see my uploaded images at the top of this Amazon listing.

I don't expect this pot to last more than 6-9 months at the current rate of wear. I have been very happy with the cooking performance of enameled cast iron cookware, but from now on I will stick with the quality and Lifetime Warranty of Le Creuset.

    Peace, Ben

  5. Cuisinart CI630-20CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 3-Quart Round Covered Casserole, Cardinal Red (Kitchen) Loved using this pot until the porcelain started coming off the bottom while i was stirring a meat sauce with a wooden spoon. So far, my attempts to contact their customer service to resolve this have gone unanswered. There is no reason the porcelain should start cracking off the bottom of a well treated pot in only a few months...

  6. I bought this enameled cast iron pan in hopes that it would be high enough quality to last. Unfortunately, I found cracks in the enamel after only two uses of very light wear. My stovetop use did not exceed the medium setting and my oven use didn't exceed 300 degrees. I would consider that very gentle handling! I will be returning this and buying a le creuset in hopes of a better result.

  7. I purchased this casserole in December 2010 and have used it a dozen times to cook dishes such as braised short ribs and beef brisket. The results have always been excellent. It cleans very easily and shows no signs of cracks or other deformities. You should take note of its weight. It is very heavy, especially when holding 5 or 6 pounds of meat, vegetables, and broth. So one has to take care when moving it from stove top to the oven. If you enjoy cooking, this casserole is a must have!

The enameled cast iron casserole, or dutch oven, is a great addition to any chef's kitchen. It generally becomes a family heirloom, because the pot will outlast the chef.

The most well known brand is Le Creuset, but those are also the most expensive. I've found this Cuisinart to be very capable and it's about half the price. Its taken some punishment from me over the past few weeks and performed admirably.

I have a Le Creuset enameled aluminum stock pot. I can't see a noticeable difference in the quality of their enameling. This bad boy is serious cookware for serious cooking.

  9. Cuisinart CI650-25BG Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 5-Quart Round Covered Casserole, Provencal Blue (Kitchen) Cuisinart made this product for a lifetime of use. I use the dishwasher to clean it and it comes out like new. Cook with this pot three or four times a week, it's my favorite cooking utensil. Thanks to Cuisinart and Amazon I will be buying more enameled cookware.
